JOB SPECIFICATION

This Job Description may be adjusted by the Headteacher according to the changing needs of the school. This post is subject to the conditions of employment contained in the Jebel Ali School contract and to work in line with new COVID guidelines in supporting students and staff.

 

Role Summary: NBLAs are employed to provide initial evaluations for students who have been identified by class teachers or specialists as having difficulties, (which may include language development and/or behavioural, social, physical and/or academic) or have been identified as possible EAL or EMA students.

 

NBLAs liaise with class teachers and specialists, under the direct line management of the Deputy Headteacher, to create interventions which may include observations and monitoring, as well as pastoral and behaviour plans. 

 

NBLAs work closely with class teachers to monitor the success of the interventions put in place. They are a vital part of the ‘Pebble Procedure’. 

 

However, as with all things in a busy primary school, it is necessary to be flexible on occasions and adapt to changing needs. 

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Carry out observations/assessments and/or tasks, as directed by the Deputy Headteacher

  • Create intervention programmes, in liaison with the class teacher/ iteam, as directed by the Deputy Headteacher

  • Track the progress/success of intervention programmes and feed-back to the DHT, noting strengths and areas of concern

  • Liaise with DHT/YGL/class teacher/LA/iteam 

  • Work as unobtrusively as possible within the classroom environment

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the child, other children and staff at JAS at all times

  • Attend staff training sessions, wherever possible, in order to stay current with best practice at JAS and ensure the best outcomes for the child  

  • Adhere to school policies at all times but in particular for Safeguarding, Dresscode, Behaviour and Teaching & Learning

  • Understand that initial Safeguarding training and consequently adhering to Safeguarding policy and practice is a prerequisite to the job

  • Supervise children in the playground at the start/end of the day and at break times as required.

  • Seek to actively support and promote the school through positive public relations and to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all matters relating to school.

  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time by the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher. 

 

Other duties and responsibilities:

Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. The post holder is expected to comply with any reasonable request from the Leadership Team to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description. This job description may be amended at any time following discussion between the HT/Line Manager and will be reviewed regularly.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent

  • Must be on spouse or dependent visa as no sponsorship/visa is provided.

 Preferred:

  • Previous experience within an Inclusion/Learning Support department

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive approach to both individual and collaborative professional development
